Who we are

We provide highly qualified services to agricultural and agro-industrial supply chains, with the aim of enhancing their competitiveness and sustainability, as well as ensuring and improving food security.

We enhance the results from research in the agri-food sector through:

the development of Decision Support Systems (DSS) for sustainable crop management based on Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs)
the transfer of technological innovation to production entities at the national and international levels, in the sectors of intensive and extensive crop farming, agroenergy production, quality brands, and agri-food supply chains, with a particular focus on productivity, environmental sustainability, and food safety.
the design, development, and implementation of new production processes and new products/technical tools to be introduced to the market.

A bit ofhistory

Hort@ was founded in 2008 as a spin-off of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, born from the idea of the founding members (Vittorio Rossi and Tito Caffi, professors at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Pierluigi Meriggi, and Simona Giosuè) with the goal of transferring innovation from the research world to agricultural practice.
